Garmin Drops Beta Update 32.08 for Edge 1050, 850, and 550: What’s New?

Garmin is sending out a fresh software update for some of its top cycling computers. The new Beta Version 32.08 is now rolling out for riders using the Edge 1050, 850, and 550 models.

This update focuses on fixing annoying bugs, improving battery life calculations, and making the devices work better with electric bikes.

Better Tracking for E-Bikes and Climbs

If you ride a Bosch-powered electric bike, this update is for you. Garmin has updated the eBike data screen to play nicer with Bosch systems, making it easier to see your stats while riding.

Mountain bikers also get a cool new feature. The device can now automatically detect when you are going up or down a hill if you use the Enduro or E-Enduro profiles. You can find this new setting under the MTB/CX options.

Smart Workouts and Bug Fixes

Garmin has also tweaked its training features. The “Stamina” model, which predicts how much energy you have left in the tank, is now more accurate. Plus, if you are tired of seeing daily workout suggestions on your home screen, you can finally turn them off directly from the menu.

The update also fixes a frustrating map glitch where searching for a postal code would give you the wrong distance. On top of that, Garmin says the device should run smoother overall with fewer random crashes.

How to Get the Update

Getting the new software is simple if your device is connected to Wi-Fi. Just follow these steps on your Edge computer:

  • Go to the Main Menu

  • Select System

  • Tap About

  • Choose Check For Updates
