Garmin Releases New Beta Software Update 18.14 for Vivoactive 6: What’s New?

Garmin is sending out a fresh beta software update for the Vivoactive 6 smartwatch. This new version, labeled 18.14, focuses on fixing bugs and making the watch run smoother for users who are part of Garmin’s testing program.

The update fixes several annoying glitches, ranging from screen lock problems to music player errors. If you want to get the latest features right away, you can manually check for the update by opening the main menu on your watch, going to Settings, selecting System, and then tapping Software Update.

Smart Touchscreen and Audio Fixes

One of the biggest improvements in this update is how the watch handles its touchscreen. Garmin fixed a common issue where the screen would accidentally unlock by itself. They also made sure the touchscreen stays turned off during water sports, even if you are using a special custom focus mode.

Audio and headphone users will also notice some nice changes. The watch will now turn off button sounds automatically when you connect your headphones. Garmin also fixed a strange bug that caused headphone volume to change on its own when you switched focus modes.

Music Player and Alarm Adjustments

If you use your Vivoactive 6 to listen to music while working out, this update solves a few headache-inducing problems. The music screen will now show your true playback status instead of getting stuck. Plus, the “back” button will properly restart a song now, and music will no longer awkwardly play over spectator messages.

For your morning routine, Garmin fixed a bug with the alarm clock. Previously, alarms that were set to “vibrate only” would sometimes still make a loud sound. That issue has now been resolved.

Better Workout Plans and Bug Fixes

Fitness tracking gets a helpful boost in version 18.14 as well. A frustrating crash that happened right when you tried to save an indoor rowing workout has been fixed.

Garmin also cleaned up how training schedules look. Now, the rest days and workout days shown on your wrist will perfectly match what you see in your Garmin Coach or daily suggested workout plans on your phone. Finally, the update tweaks various language translations and cleans up several other minor software bugs.
