Garmin has officially started rolling out a new beta software update for the Venu X1 smartwatch. The new version, labeled 18.23, is packed with several important bug fixes that aim to make the watch run much smoother during daily use and workouts.
Key fixes for crashes and unexpected reboots
This update focuses heavily on system stability. Garmin addressed several serious issues that were causing the device to crash or restart on its own.
Specifically, version 18.23 fixes bugs that caused the smartwatch to reset when saving an activity, viewing the morning report, or receiving an audio spectator message. It also resolves a critical issue where the watch would crash during incident detection, as well as general sporadic rebooting problems.
Improvements for workout tracking and voice features
Runners and athletes will notice a key fix for GPS performance. Garmin solved an issue where pace and speed tracking would suddenly drop out, a problem that frequently affected users during interval training sessions.
Voice controls and audio functions have also been cleaned up. The update fixes bugs that caused the device to ignore the Wake Word or freeze up right after the Wake Word was triggered. Additionally, issues with audio spectator messages failing to play during paused music—or blocking other voice outputs afterward—have been fully resolved.
Display, music, and minor performance tweaks
Several interface glitches are now fixed in this release. The volume slider within the music controls will no longer bounce around or freeze. Both the morning and evening report screens will now properly time out as intended, rather than staying stuck on the screen.
On top of these fixes, Garmin included general performance polish and updated language translations across the system.
How to install update 18.23
If you are enrolled in Garmin’s Beta Program, you can manually check for and download the update directly on your watch. Simply navigate to Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates.
