Garmin releases new beta update 22.28 for Fenix 8/8 Pro, Quatix 8, and Enduro 3

Garmin is moving at a breakneck pace with its latest software refinements. Only two days after the previous beta release (22.27), the company has launched Beta Version 22.28. This rapid turnaround targets a specific group of high-end multisport watches, ensuring that early adopters of the newest hardware experience a smoother, more reliable interface.

The update is currently available for the following models:

  • Fenix 8 & Fenix 8 Pro

  • Enduro 3

  • Quatix 8

Note: The Beta software available for the Fenix 8 series will have the ECG feature and Dive features disabled.

Crucial Bug Fixes and Interface Polish

This iteration focuses heavily on stability and squashing those annoying “quality of life” bugs that often crop up in beta testing. One of the primary fixes addresses a visual glitch where the seconds counter would disappear from the watch face when the Color Shift feature was enabled.

For athletes and explorers who rely on precise navigation, Garmin has resolved a critical crash issue that occurred when accessing maps after using a Z10 or Z30 device. Additionally, the developers fixed a frustrating bug where the map data screen would vanish entirely if a course was recalculated after a user took a wrong turn.

Improved System Logic and Connectivity

Beyond navigation, Version 22.28 streamlines how the hardware interacts with the user. Previously, some testers reported that the alert volume remained static even after adjusting the master system volume; this has now been synchronized.

Connectivity also received a minor but essential tweak. A bug that prevented the English keyboard from appearing during Wi-Fi password entry has been eliminated, making it much easier to get your watch synced up to local networks without a headache.

How to Install the Update Manually

While these beta updates eventually roll out automatically to enrolled devices, you don’t have to wait for the “push” notification. If you want to jump on these fixes immediately, you can trigger the download directly from your wrist.

To update, follow this path on your watch:

  1. Open the Main Menu.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Scroll down to System.

  4. Tap on Software Update.

  5. Select Check For Updates.
